In January 2018 IREX Europe ran training in media literacy in Bishkek National Library, Kyrgyzstan, and Nazarbayev University Library, Kazakhstan. The training was aimed at public and university librarians and included an introduction to media literacy; critical thinking; assessing the accuracy of information; objectivity and clarity; distinguishing fact and opinion; propaganda; and interactive teaching techniques.

57 librarians attended the trainings and learned how to run media literacy courses in their own libraries. In Astana we were also joined by trainer Alyona Koshkina from who ran a session on fact checking and photomanipulation.
