Mastering Digital Storytelling training has inspired 8 young journalists and two librarians to use new tools in their daily reporting by showing them new products, apps and trends.

During an intensive two-day workshop, held on 15-16 of December 2018, in Chisinau, IREX Europe learning-by-doing and MIL trainees, had the chance to explore:

  • Latest trends in digital storytelling formats
  • Smart ways for planning stories and gathering multimedia story elements
  • How to adapt digital content to social media
  • A range of smartphone apps and web tools for gathering and producing digital content

During the first day, Angela Kea, a freelance journalist from Germany, guided the participants through global trends in digital storytelling and helped them understand “smart workflow” for digital news gathering.

On the second day, participants went out in the field to make their own stories with guidance and mentoring from our experts helping them produce multimedia video, photo and text stories.

A feedback session at the end of the training helped participants better understand the steps required to produce quality digital stories.

The training was implemented in the framework of the Strengthening Independent media and Media Literacy in Moldova Project. To find out more about the project, please check here.
