Belarus:  Support to Freedom of Expression via Independent Broadcasting and New Media Belarus: Support to Freedom of Expression via Independent Broadcasting and New Media The 26-month project Support to freedom of expression via independent broadcasting and New Media officially launched in January 2011. The project, which focuses on radio programming production, training for journalists and civic journalism practioners, as well as developing sustainble youth-orientated civic journalism platforms, is supported by the European Union.
Belarus : Improving Media Education Belarus : Improving Media Education The 30-month international project "Belarus: Improving Media Education" was officially launched in Vilnius in May 2010. The project, which focuses on building capacity at the European Humanities University to enhance journalism skills and create TV programming, is supported by the EU and is implemented jointly by IREX Europe and its partners the BBC World Service Trust (BBCWST) and the European Humanities University (EHU).

Georgia : Development of Media Monitoring Capacities Georgia : Development of Media Monitoring Capacities The IREX Europe/Memo 98 project 'Development of Media Monitoring Capacities in Georgia', funded by EU, assesses the capacities of Civil Society Organizations in media monitoring, designs curriculum tailored to their needs and conducts trainings according to the developed methodology.
Kenya: Learning theatre to promote peace and understanding among Somali communities Kenya: Learning theatre to promote peace and understanding among Somali communities IREX Europe, in partnership with the Kenyan-based NGO Somali Aid Foundation (SAF), is implementing a project aimed at disenfranchised youth which uses theatre as a vehicle for youth to express their views and frustrations on key issues including poverty, lack of access to education and gender issues, among others. The project targets the Somali youth population in the Nairobi suburb of Eastleigh and in the refugee camp of Hagadera.
Somaliland: Theatre to promote peace and understanding Somaliland: Theatre to promote peace and understanding IREX Europe ran a series of drama-based activities across Somaliland to promote peaceful co-existence. Working with partner Kow Media Corporation from Hargeisa, a drama team travelled through six regions in Somaliland exploring tribalism, radicalisation, community tensions and other drivers of conflict in the region. Following each show, the theatre troupe organised sessions using traditional spontaneous poetry blended with modern discussion techniques to promote critical thinking about Somaliland’s challenges.
